France – Paris

Gide Loyrette Nouel has announced the upcoming arrival of Olivier Diaz as partner within its M & A / Corporate Law practice group in Paris. Olivier Diaz has over 25 years’ experience in complex mergers and acquisitions, private equity operations, securities law and corporate law. His practice covers a wide variety of transactions, in particular public and private acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, joint ventures and corporate restructurings. During his career, Olivier has worked with clients on the largest and most complex M&A transactions in France, particularly in industrial fields, such as telecoms, energy, financial institutions and the food industry. Prior to joining Gide in which Olivier was previously partner from 1990 to 1998, he worked for two years at Linklaters (1998-2000), fourteen years at Darrois Villey Maillot Brochier (2000-2015) and three years at Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom.

Netherlands – Amsterdam

Linklaters has announced the addition of market leading lawyer, Bas Jennen, who will be joining the firm’s Financial Regulatory Group as a partner. He will be based in the Amsterdam office and joins from Allen & Overy. Bas specialises in financial regulatory and compliance matters. His advisory practice encompasses a broad range of regulatory laws and regulations; advising on, among other things, licensing, prudential rules, corporate governance (including fit and proper testing), and compliance and integrity-related issues (anti-money laundering and terrorist financing, market abuse, etc.). He assists clients with regulatory application procedures and supports transactions with financial regulatory aspects, including mergers and acquisitions in the financial sector. Bas also advises on investigations, enforcement aspects and communications with regulators.

Spain – Madrid

Latham & Watkins LLP has released that Naiara Rodriguez-Escudero will join the firm’s Madrid office as a partner in the Benefits, Compensation & Employment Practice. Rodriguez-Escudero regularly advises Spanish and international clients on a variety of complex employment law matters relating to restructurings, outsourcings, mergers and acquisitions, including downsizing and redundancy plans, as well as the full spectrum of legal and regulatory matters relating to corporate transactions, such as industrial disputes, collective bargaining agreements, stock and cash based incentive programmes, relocation, social security, and employment litigation, among others.

UAE – Abu Dhabi

Dentons has strengthened its Banking and Finance practice in the Middle East with the hire of partner Stephen Knight, who joins the Firm’s Abu Dhabi office. Stephen has lived and worked in Abu Dhabi for nearly a decade and joins Dentons from Allen & Overy. Stephen advises grantors, sponsors/borrowers, and lenders on a wide range of finance transactions and regularly advises on both finance documents (conventional and Islamic) and commercial contracts. He has a particular specialism in infrastructure/BOT/PPP transactions, especially in the healthcare, education, retail, leisure, and hospitality sectors, and also advises on renewable and thermal power and water financings. Stephen advises on English law and UAE law transactions.
