International law firm Dentons has announced the promotion of Julio Parrilla to partner in Restructuring, Insolvency and Bankruptcy, and José Ramón Vizcaino to partner in Tax. Both new partners are based in the Madrid office. With these elevations, the Firm now has 11 partners in Spain.
Julio Parrilla leads Dentons’ Restructuring, Insolvency and Bankruptcy practice in Spain. He began his professional career at Salans (now Dentons) in 2007.
José Ramón Vizcaino joined Dentons in 2013, and prior to that, he worked in the M&A Tax department of KPMG. He has more than 15 years of experience in tax, especially in M&A transactions, tax planning, international taxation, and the tax aspects of restructuring. He provides tax advice to Spanish and international companies, with a particular focus on the real estate, energy, telecommunication, risk capital and investment funds sectors.

Global law firm White & Case LLP has executed the next step in the growth of its Global Financial Restructuring and Insolvency Practice (FRI) with the addition of Brian Pfeiffer as a partner. Pfeiffer, who is moving his practice from Schulte Roth & Zabel, will split his time between the Firm’s New York and Miami offices.
Pfeiffer’s work includes all aspects of in-court and out-of-court restructurings of financially distressed companies. His experience has been honed working for ad hoc groups of bondholders and lenders, official and unofficial creditors’ and equity committees and purchasers and sellers of distressed assets and businesses. Pfeiffer has advised on restructurings across a broad range of industries and sectors, including real estate, telecommunications, financial services, energy, technology, automotive and forestry.

International law firm K&L Gates LLP has named Pallavi Mehta Wahi, a partner in the litigation practice and administrative partner of the Seattle office, as chairwoman of the firmwide diversity committee, a role in which Wahi will drive the direction of the firm’s diversity and inclusion initiatives. Wahi concentrates her practice on complex commercial litigation with an emphasis on corporate and intellectual property litigation, and also serves as a co-chair of the firmwide India practice.

International law firm Bird & Bird welcomed Samrad Nazer as a new Banking & Finance partner in the London office. This appointment forms part of the firm’s strategic growth plan for the Banking & Finance practice in London, specifically in acquisition and leveraged finance work.
Samrad joins from U.S. firm Locke Lord in London where he was a partner and head of the firm’s Banking & Finance team. He has particular expertise in banking but also has experience working in a number of Bird & Bird’s sectors including Energy & Utilities, FinTech and Sport.
