Our client, a leading law firm in more than 50 countries, maintains a top-tier global practice in Energy. For Germany they seek top-tier Partners in the Renewables, Regulatory, and Transactional Energy space to capitalize on the substantial opportunities this firm presents across the energy and infrastructure markets in which they operate. The Partners should represent a further step in growing the German team and enhance the offering to clients in Germany and globally.
In Renewables: Demonstrated name and track record in renewable generation and technologies required; especially wind and solar would be preferred. Essential that the Partner has a known reputation for assisting clients with renewable energy projects and successfully navigating clients through the laws and regulations that surround the industry ; development and commercialization of clean technologies, tendering processes, project development, including: site acquisition and control; resource licensing and supply agreements; power purchase agreements; transmission and interconnection agreements; planning, permitting, leasing, ownership and joint venture structures; partnership structure; procurement and construction including turnkey and O&M contracts; regulatory advice, including EPC and PILOT negotiations and operation of infrastructure, tax law, including relevant tax credits and other subsidy regimes, environmental law, market rules affecting costs, including ancillary services, advice on national, regional and international policy and energy trading.
In Regulatory; Transmission Distribution Grid(s) expertise, particular skills in State Aid and EU Environmental factors would be appreciated. Candidates should have top tier law firm experience focusing on power and natural gas regulatory, compliance and/or enforcement matters, or experience at national energy regulator or another sector regulatory body e.g. financial services. This might include a focus on experience with energy trading, power and natural gas market regulatory issues, and enforcement and compliance matters related to these markets. Any regulatory experience with oil & gas, power, and other commodities (physical or financial) is a plus.
In Transactional; the Partner sought should have expertise covering project development work, project finance, private M&A and acquisition finance in the energy sector, along with extensive experience of advising blue chip energy companies and banks on oil and gas, renewable energy, conventional power and energy infrastructure. A background with broad international experience, for instance having handled matters in the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe would be a significant plus.
