International law firm Dentons has appointed Noor Kapdi as Chief Executive Officer of the Firm’s newly established Africa region. Formerly a part of Dentons’ UK, Middle East and Africa region, Africa has now been established, from a governance and structural perspective, as a region within Dentons. Mr. Kapdi has been Managing Partner of Dentons in South Africa since 2014.
Dentons also strengthened its team in Frankfurt with the recruitment of counsel Dr. Markus Schrader. He joins the Banking and Finance practice led by Dr. Arne Klüwer as well as the Capital Markets team led by Robert Michels. Schrader joins Dentons from Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt, where he started 2003 and served as Director and Senior Counsel since 2010.
Moreover, Dentons has announced that Pia Hundal has joined the Firm as a partner in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution group.Based in our Toronto office, Pia’s practice focuses on estates and trusts litigation. Pia works to resolve disputes in the most cost-effective manner and has significant experience resolving disputes at mediation. She also has extensive litigation experience, including work on major trials and arbitrations, and has made countless appearances in the Superior Court of Justice.

Global law firm K&L Gates LLP welcomes Amanda Makki as a partner in the public policy and law practice of its Washington, D.C., office. Makki joins the firm from Novo Nordisk, where she led the global health care company’s external affairs efforts and managed legislation relating to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Previously, she handled health care policy for Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), a member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee.
The law firm K&L Gates LLP has also appointed Neil T. Smith as a partner in the investigations, enforcement, and white collar practice. Smith joins K&L Gates from the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), where he collaborated extensively with U.S. and foreign criminal authorities and regulatory agencies across multiple investigations in his role as Senior Counsel in the Enforcement Division’s Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) Unit.
